With a running back like Budda Baker, Bellevue’s game plan can seem quite simple: give Budda the ball.
Though Baker’s playing time was limited due to a tight back and hamstrings, the senior still made his impact on the game against Mount Si. In the first half, Baker carried the ball just three times but racked in 123 yards with two touchdowns from 88 and 35 yards out.
By the end of the game, Baker led Bellevue to a 52-13 victory over the Wildcats.
Adding to Baker’s ground game, quarterback Timmy Haehl also ran the ball well. Haehl finished with three rushed for 116 yards and two scores.
In fact, the Wolverines ran the ball so well that 396 of their 411 total offensive yards came on the ground.
Bellevue’s defense shut down Mount Si’s usually powerful offense. Previously at 6-0, the Wildcats offense generated 34 or more points in four of their games thus far this season. The Wolverines stopped Mount Si’s star quarterback, Nick Mitchell, from gaining any sort of moment. Mitchell completed 9 of 21 passes for 148 yards and had an interception that was returned for a touchdown.
Due to a great all-around team effort, Bellevue was able to dominate Mount Si, one of Washington’s best football team.
Advancing to 7-0, the Wildcats currently sit in 14th in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings and 1st in Washington. They are now preparing to play Liberty High School on Friday, October 25.
